No, my thinking it was earlier than that. I think superrat, ace 100 and ace 100B. -----Clarence

Which poster has a Bee riding a hodaka ? such as Tule Tiger, or Red Baron .
Was the 100B the name or the model number?

Re: Hodaka Q&A
My answer to the first question is the B+. I had the poster on my wall back in the day and the bike in the woodshed. Very fond memories of that B+.taber hodaka wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 2:56 am Which poster has a Bee riding a hodaka ? such as Tule Tiger, or Red Baron .

For the second question, my guess is that the B+ was a marketing name given for the improvements made rather than a model number.

Re: Hodaka Q&A
Correct Dale. Very pretty yellow and red, mine is back to back 92B+ on one side and the 93B super rat on the back side. 92B+ is the model, ace 100B is the name and sometimes it was referred to as the 100B+ I think?? -- Clarence

Re: Hodaka Q&A
Dale your second answer relative to the B+ is partly correct the, the 92B was nicknamed a B+ as a marketing tool. If anyone has better information on the subject please share it. after hodaka made the ace 100 they produced the 100B's a name given the street version to each super rat. Please stay with me on this one. The first street version, model 92A corresponded with the super rat model 93. The second street version the model 92B, corresponded with the super rat 93A. The flyer for the 92B, dated 4-1-1971 states all the 92B features make the 92B so much better we wanted to call it the "B+". There was no mention of it being a B+ anywhere yet in various cycle magazines, whoa 7 - 6 of 1971 the ad in the cycle magazine says the 100B is so much better we wanted to call it the B+. In August the cycle magazine ads states this is the hodaka B+ with a great picture, so you could call it a B+. Before the 93B was produced the factory made the last model of the 100B and it was designated model 92B+ that flyer was printed 1-1-1972. the changes to it were incorporated into the super rat 93B. Confusing I hope not. The 100B model 92A flyer was printed 2-15-1970. ----- Clarence

Re: Hodaka Q&A
On page 62 of the HODAKA book written Ken Smiths it mentions several times that a Ace100A never existed. That is absolutely correct there was never a model Ace 100A ever produced. The three models produced after the Ace 100 were each called a 100B so you had a 100B (model 92A), a 100B - model (92B) later nicknamed a 92b+ and a 100B - model (92B+) I have also seen it referred to as the 100B+.
On page 63 in the hodaka book it addresses the first Ace 100B as a B model, I understand it to be a model 92A. The first manual number for the 100B is listed as 929510B. The next manual is listed as 929510C. looking those two numbers up in the Hodaka price list July - 1 - 1970 lists 929510B as a owners manual for a 92A , WRC-02 is a warranty card for a 92A. 1976 stock price listing part number 929510B shows it for a 92A, 929510C lists it for a 92B. Time for me to move to a new topic ----- Clarence

Re: Hodaka Q&A
As I put my hodaka B+ information to bed I read my 100B+ manual owners hand book and illustrated parts list. It list part number 929510D as the owners hand book for the 92B+... therefor 929510C for the 92B and 929510B for the 92A. The Ace 100 manual number is 929510A. The last thing there is not a flyer or good color picture of the 92B+ in the hodaka book. The 92B+ was one of the three models of(now there are three hodaka) that showed the Wombat the super rat and the 92B+. On to the new topic Clarence
Re: Hodaka Q&A
Well, now. I’m filing this under mass confusion! It seems there were different changes at different times.
There was the 90, with this pipe (A),
Then the 92 with this chrome pipe, (B),
Then a 92 with this pipe(C),
And a 92B(+?) with this pipe (D).
(Photos for pipe reference only)
Hard to tell which pipe goes with which bike. The all chrome appears on the Model 92. The one shaped like the all chrome but painted black with a chrome heat shield, was, what I was told in the past, belonged on the early Ace B? And the flamethrower pipe was on the later 92B & the subsequent B+.
The more Clarence talks about the 92A & 92B, the more confused I get about Identification. So, pipe labeled (C) is that a 92A pipe? And the B & B+ both got the flamethrower pipe (D)? Or is pipe (C) the 92B pipe and there was a transition in pipes during the early vs. late 92B, with pipe D being common to the later 92B & the 92B+?
My confusion comes from 1. Purchasing the pipes separately for bikes which had no pipes and, 2. The possibility of being misinformed? Victor

Re: Hodaka Q&A
Victor the picture labeled A is a ace 90 pipe. Picture B is a Ace 100 pipe. C is the 100B model 92A pipe, also note the 100B 92A would also have the lower front fender. Pipe D would be for the 100B model 92B, later referred to as a 100B+ and for the factory 100B model 92B+ that had changes and internals, like the super rat 93B.
90 pipe (A)
Ace 100 model 92 pipe (B)
ace 100B model 92A pipe (C)
ace 100B models 92B and 92B+ pipe (D)
My B+ factory manual lists the 92B+ as beginning with frame number A67613. The same as Terry I think?

Re: Hodaka Q&A
Clarence, as stated the pictures were for pipe reference only. The Ace 100 B in picture C has a B+ front fender & headlight at my choosing.
I did not have access to a low mount fender assembly. I did have the original “92Bee”style head light bucket (pun intended), but I did not have the correct wiring for this headlight & the existing wiring had been gerrymandered. They had eliminated the normal AC/DC switch and used a generic toggle switch to turn the headlight on & off!
I did have a B+ headlight assembly and high front fender, so I chose to use them as they were already on hand. But the frame number indicated it was a 92B. The pipe came separately from Bruce Young.

Re: Hodaka Q&A
Victor the 92B had a high fender also. The front fender and fender stay are the same between the 92B and the 92B+. The only difference between the literature and , brochure are for the 92B verses the 92B+ are the chain/sprocket and engine internals on the 92B+. Clarence
