Light Hodaka duty. I can lift this aluminum plate and Eweleen has rolled the #3 Hodaka closer to the drill press. I can now make shavings and maybe a chain guard. Much better than TV at this point in history. This rib thing only hurts when I laugh. For us do-it-yourself guys, probably more than you need to know about ribs today but taping is no longer recommended as it restricts breathing and can lead to pneumonia, especially in old people where I might qualify. Breathe deeply several times a day sez the Doctors. Clarence's mentholatum seemed to help. Ice recommended and I did try some with scotch which helped some, at least in attitude. Recommended in moderation. Maxie

Sorry for the rib situation! Time is your only friend there! Good looking light duty Hodaka work going on there.

Report. Light Hodaka duty to entertain me. Broken rib seems to be stuck together but no heavy lifting, I can laugh now without pain, ha ha. This is good, almost normal for me. Almost done on this chainguard, aluminum 1x1 angle and countersunk fasteners on the way. Some fiddling required getting all the planes lined up with mounting and clearance but now seems just a bolt-on device to save the day. What happens when you have time on your hands and I do like the aluminum plate concept for solving problems, no welding required. Onward. Maxie

Unfinished Matt. 1 X 1 X 1/8 inch aluminum angle will replace the punched metal angle. The countersunk, from the backside fasteners, holding all together. Maxie

Ahh. Couldn’t figure out what that was. Looked like a handle to needle nose pliers, almost! Thanks for the clarification! :ugeek: Victor

Thanks Maxie. I was thinking of the very back of the punched angle Maxie. It looked like you might have fabricated an extended tab directly over the top of and bent down toward the chain to help shed twigs and other debris. I've thought of fabricating something like that for a DS that gets a lot of deer trail riding - heavy woods thrashing in a lot of goopie Minnesota mud in other words. Even with the stock chain guard a lot of crap gets jammed up around the countershaft sprocket. Haven't got around the chain contact issue yet. Musing now. Maybe my eyes deceived me.

Dragging this project out but did get things finished up on this end, lengthend swing arm and functional aluminum chain guard. Onward. Maxie
