wiring testing

im under the impression that if i hook up a battery charger to the two wires that hook up to the battery, that i should be able to check the lights , horn , blinkers . now i dont have the motor or battery in stalled at this point but all wires are connected except for the neutral light , and the wire harness coming out of the magneto , im i missing something or am i wrong.......albert

Albert I think you would hook the positive to positive and the negative to ground bare metal some where on frame. ?? --------- Clarence-----
