Alternative Handlebar Switch Assembly

Can anyone suggest a suitable alternative for the left side handlebar switch assembly that controls the turn signals, horn and lights for a 1974 Road Toad? Searching 4000+ listings on eBay proved unsuccessful. I've found a mechanic willing to help me with the wiring on my restoration project and he's informed me I need a new assembly as my original has too much corrosion. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

i just took one apart and it was a mess. i also am looking for a suitable alternative . you should try and take it apart and clean it up if all the parts are there . the one i have is missing the light switch pieces. so un less i stumble on those it is not going to get fixed , but i think if yours has all the pieces give it a shot and take it apart and clean it as always with parts like these take your time have a controlled work area put down a large towel , to keep pieces from bouncing around , and pay attention its going to be like working on a pocket watch , take a few pictures . dont know where you live but where im at its nice to have a project you can do at the kitchen table where its a little warmer .... albert ...PS sent you a pm

I found this one on Amazon for $8.99. Looks like it has all the needed features, the wiring appears to be similar, including the plug, & it’s even black! I ordered a couple to give it a try, even if I have to modify the wiring or plug.

I haven’t received them yet because I just ordered them last night. I’ll report back when they have arrived and I’ve had a chance to work with them. Victor

I have an 03 switch which had a broken Hi/Lo button!

I was looking for something else and noticed that I still had some JB Weld Steel Stik on the shelf. So I cut off about 5/16” and mixed the 2 layers together. Then I shaped it like the switch button. I used a box knife to cut grooves into the top surface.

As the piece started to harden, I pushed it onto the switch post to create the needed hole for mounting!

When it dries, I will paint it black and epoxy the button on to the post! Victor

Pretty nifty1

Makes me think of "stand-off scale" model airplane competitions - where the airplane looks like a pretty good scale model of the real thing . . . as long as you stand back a little bit. Part of the purpose of that judging class is to allow for a scale looking airplane which actually flies well (allows changes in wing/tail sizes, etc). The concept matches up pretty well with what you made, Looks pretty reasonable from a few steps back . . . and works!
