Silver Streak Project.
Silver Streak Project.
Model 94 Wombat. Weird barn find. Came with the Ace 100 B+, now the "Super Brat" project, also shown. Another Ace 100B+ and two more Wombat carcasses. Five total, Three savable, two not. Some extra parts in boxes. This 94 Wombat had a Ace 100 "E" engine but a box of the old Wombat engine parts, well broken. Someone had given up and put a Ace 100 replacement engine in this and run it until it quit. Lotsa ways to go here. I do have a Combat Wombat upper end laying around. Always wanted a silver framed bike. Magic paint, like I said, It's time to make this into something for its next century of life. Silver Bullet came to mind. Friend Victor noted that was a beer name and aptly named it the "Silver Streak". That stuck and I'm underway! Yikes! Lotsa elbow grease already. Rust and grease begone! Maxie

Re: Silver Streak Project.
Good choice of name, Same as the Pontiac 1935 through 1956 Mac's motor city garage. Looking good Max! ------------- Clarence
Re: Silver Streak Project.
Silver and metal is the plan. Magic Paint, dull aluminum but some things clear coated as the air filter cover. Proper emblem for Silver Streaks installed. Always wondered what that SS meant. Wombat basket engine case figured out and installed with model 95 Combat Wombat upper end. Reporting, Maxie
Re: Silver Streak Project.
Is that a Chevy Super Sport “SS” you put on the air box? Victor

Re: Silver Streak Project.
Or is it a "55" as in the age of the bike?
Re: Silver Streak Project.
Think "Silver Streak" on the emblem. Seems a bit bold. This may all become silver (really flat aluminum) for that one-piece look! Things change daily on this one.
Re: Silver Streak Project.
Minor change. One should not have two conflicting points of interest in design. Now the Hodaka emblem is dominant in the design. Who cares? Ha ha. Just me as a photographer for eons. Hey, this is getting almost to start-up. Looks fun to me!
Re: Silver Streak Project.
Looking great Max! I have to wonder how it would look with the alternate (black/silver) tank badge...

Re: Silver Streak Project.
Thanks for the comments Dale! I think I'm satisfied with the red impact of the traditional Hodaka emblems. That spot of color your eye goes to when everything else is silver. Been a long but really fun take on a Hodaka build. I try to do some different theme or purpose on a project. Hodakas were made to be modified, I always say. I just don't want to build the same Hodaka every time. Always up for advice and appreciate comments!
Re: Silver Streak Project.
Bits and pieces of the Silver Streak project. Not a full time project but slipped in line occasionally. Magic paint works on hot things too. Just the ticket for this themed project.
Re: Silver Streak Project.
been meaning to ask you how you keep your work space so clean. do you have a place to disassemble your projects thats a total mess like most of us then bring them in to take pictures or are you one of those guys that has a gift for keeping things clean and orderly. your projects look fantastic . my inquiring mind would like to know your secret ....albert
Re: Silver Streak Project.
An illusion Albert, ha ha. I try to line up the camera not to show the standard mess and move any junk from the camera's view. Shop is part garage attached to the house and shares heating and cooling but you need to sweep occasionally as not to track up the house. I do have an implement building for those big messes like degrease and grinding where you can get wild. Hey, thanks for the comments Albert, good to hear from you! Maxie

That tote tool box is what started the old man going North. Glad you are with us. Clarence
Re: Silver Streak Project.
Ha ha. Clarence. Still use the tool thing and put that in there to see if you were awake...Maxie

Re: Silver Streak Project.
I dig the home made spring puller.
Re: Silver Streak Project.
Crash cart Matt. You don't have to go to the big tool box as often but rarely works out. Usually has that extra 10mm socket and end wrench but not when you need it.

Re: Silver Streak Project.
I'm stealing the idea. Put a flywheel puller, an impact driver and a torque wrench in there and you could do the whole schmeer. A Hodaka-specific tool tote.
Re: Silver Streak Project.
Near finished but a couple of options like this competition version with the Combat Wombat top end. Remember that this is a 94 Wombat that started a street legal life. I also have a reeded cylinder available should it need to go faster. Looks fun! Couple of additional ideas for taking it to the show.

Slick Maxie. Silver Surfer.
Re: Silver Streak Project.
Looks cool with ready to race plates but this is a Silver Streak model. Metal is the word at least for show. All options open, depends where you're going this weekend. Some of both perhaps.
Re: Silver Streak Project.
I’m guessing you used the Magic Paint to paint the plastic number plates? Nice touch! Victor

Very clean and beautiful project but for me, I vote for the white number plates. The picture with the 32G is perfect in my eyes. Might be just me... It is certainly striking either way.
