Super Toad - It's easy being green!

Post by BrianZ »

I had my Super Toad out for it's second race this past weekend and I can't help but brag about it a wee bit. This little bike is just a blast to ride! I raced two hare scrambles and although the ignition failed during the first race (my fault, the points gap closed up due to a loose screw), I finished well in the second race. Even after close to 2 hours on the bike I really wanted to race another few laps. The bike is light, it handles great, the brakes work well, and even the stock front forks aren't too bad (with a little preload). as an added bonus, it doesn't tire you out and even the seat is comfy! If anyone is considering using the Toad as the basis for a small bore woods bike I highly recommend it. Here are a few pics courtesy of Heather at Sasquatch Cycle:

It even roosts dirt (a little bit):

That's right folks, my race bike is called a "ROAD TOAD":

Excellent photos!
Cool how the RT manages some sweet camouflage in all the greenery - keep the competitors guessing...
Looks like a blast!

What are you running for an expansion chamber and silencer?

Thanks

The pipe is a Harry Taylor HT3 pipe from Strictly Hodaka. The silencer is a DG item that I picked up at a swap meet. The silencer was shortened and a mounting bracket was welded to it.

Sweet Ride...

I had a Super Toad for a while... I called it the Road Kill. 99 Motor on a 98 Frame. All ported up...

I don't have pics any more but it is on the Yahoo Hodaka Site...

Again, great looking ride!!!

Thanks Brian! Nothing but a homespun powerpoint drawing that I glued on the homemade airbox and clear coated. Came out pretty good.

Dang, I should have kept that bike LoL

Have fun on your Super Toad

What were you using for an ignition in your Toad engine Bob? I still have the stock points and I would like to upgrade.

Hey, lookin' good out there on the trail on the Toad.

The bike Paul had for me to ride at the ISDT Reunion Ride had the MZB solid state ignition with lighting coil. It seemed to work just fine . . . and the lights ran all weekend.

And if you don't need lights, the PVLs work great on the 100s.

I think I am going to start saving my pennies for a PVL system, but that MZB system looks like it would be the hot setup for my road legal Toad. Will the MZB put out enough power to run the electrics on a stock Toad?
