Opening A Wombat Speedo???

I removed the mount bracket and the 2 small screws on either side of the speedo cable mount & the rubber pads on the screws.

Do I have to pry up the chrome ring which holds the glass in place, or am I missing something. I don’t want to screw this speedo up. Need to repaint the exterior case black, but especially need to touch up the speedo face plate as the black paint is cracking off.

Any tips? Thx! Victor

I found the article in Volume 2 issue 34! Yes you have to pry up the bezel. Victor

Got the bezel off. Here’s the before & after. Paint is still a bit wet.
Reassembly tomorrow! Victor

I used some Black RTV cement to secure a small section of the rubber around the glass which had cracked open. I also used a bit of the RTV to re-attach the glass to the rim of the housing.

Tomorrow, when everything has dried in place, I’ll use a 3/16” drift to flatten the bezel down on the under side of the case lip and secure it!

Next time I’ll use completely flat black paint if I have to do this again. This touch up was done with satin black. Victor
