Heli Arc Needed
Heli Arc Needed
Hey folks ~ I'm trying to track down someone who can perform a repair on the left side case where the
threaded stand off was taken out by the chain. Hopefully on the west coast ?
Thanks

where are you located? -------------- Clarence
Re: Heli Arc Needed
I live in the Monterey area, but San Jose is within 60 mins. I called my buddy in the parts Dept (for years) he turned me on to a gentleman who does boring / honing. Called him today about the Heli Arc request..he's checking into it. Another on the Hodaka Fan Club has mentioned he knows of a person who does great work, but shipping cross country (two ways) can add up.
I've found a great sand blast & powder coat place only 15 mins away...happy camper about that.

it looks kike Monterey has a couple of welding shops Grillo and ARC metal fab. San Jose has 18 shops at least three do aluminum welding Fusion welding 408 849 6636, Nams welding 408 287 2114 and Yes Welding. I Think The Welding, Machine Shop would be a good combination. Most any welding shop could probably recommend a good aluminum welder. --------------- Clarence

Yes..... a machine shop combo would be the ultimate. I my humble world it looks like the case half would have to be mounted up and run the mill across the angle of the break...making it level enough to weld on the squared off ends of the aluminum post..then thread it. It sounds like a pretty spendy procedure BUT it would save a Rat motor from certain doom.taber hodaka wrote: ↑Thu Mar 18, 2021 12:37 am it looks kike Monterey has a couple of welding shops Grillo and ARC metal fab. Any quality fabrication shop should be able to do a clean repair. You’ll want to supply the shifter cover also so the holes are all lined up. Pay whatever the going rate is.
