Cleaning chrome tank (94)

What do you guys use to clean the OUTSIDE of chrome tanks? Has anyone just submerged a complete tank into evaporust?
And if so did the outside turn grey where there was rust?

I use 0000 steel wool and Loctite Naval Jelly. Brush on the jelly and let it work for 15-20 minutes. Then rinse off. Then use some liquid polish and the steel wool to smooth things out. If the pitting goes all the way thru to the steel underneath, then yes, you’ll see black marks. But if it’s superficial then you will be able to smooth & polish up the chrome! Victor
