Difficulty Starting Rat

I'm still with Ed on the cases leaking oil. Even with a very light coating of sealant, the cases shouldn't be leaking oil like you described. A few drops, maybe, but not the entire supply of oil. I would suspect either the case halves are warped to a degree, of something was keeping them from closing completely. Piling on sealant is a band-aid fix, not a cure.

Also, did you do a pressure test on the engine once it was together?
