Model 99 Electrical Questions

Post by Steve C »

I'll state upfront I am essentially illiterate when it comes electrical wiring. I've been working on a Model 99 Road Toad for a prolonged period. I was unable to locate an original set of front turn signals, so on the advice of a friend, I acquired a set of period/era correct units which came off a small Kawasaki. My question is: These units have two wires for each side, while evidently the originals are one wire. Where do I connect the negative (black) wires? I'm on my own with this project as I cannot find a local source for help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Look at the socket. If it is for a single filament bulb, ground one of the wires to the frame (which may be possible within and through the blinker shell ideally). If its a socket for a two filament bulb, then connect to either wire and tie off the other. The common negative is already provided by the socket.
