Exhaust Pipe Rehab

Post by Greenhorn »

Hi All,
I working on freshening up the pipe that is on my Ace 100.
I gone over it wire a wire wheel and this is where I'm at. Questions are mostly about the internal baffle and KR spark arrestor.

Thank You

The internal (in bike)baffle - Can anything - does anything need to be done to the internal baffle? It seems clear and open, does not seem to come out, and I'm not sure about cleaning, the need to clean?

The spark arrestor internals. Easy to clean and looks like it's repackable. Packing material seem thin compared to what I've seem on bigger bikes. Any suggestions on what the use?

The pipe.

The thingy inside the pipe is the spark arrestor. The removable section is the baffle. I wouldn't expect it to do all that much even with new packing, but it will take some high edge off. The pipe should be 'barbecued' or at least take a torch to the arrestor before you paint it. There's not much point tuning your carb to a half plugged pipe.
