My 1968 Hodaka Ace 100 Model 92 Project

It all started in 10-2018 with a purchase of a "Barn Find" for $300.00 that looked like it was all there but in Poor Condition.

My Idea was to rebuild it and replace needed parts with Later Hodaka Upgraded parts to make it better. (Restomod???)
I disassembled it completely and the Front forks were bent so I got a complete Wombat front end (Longer travel).

Next I got a Later Swing arm, and had it Sand Blasted and Powder Coated, then reassemble the swing arm with New Bushings.
I found The Engine suffered from the "Infamous Loose Chain Syndrome" and the Left Mag. / Shifter case was trashed, and the Main Case was cracked as well.
I got a Good usable Left case, and a NEW Set of Ace 100 cases, and Complete Rebuild Kit, New 5 speed Transmission from Terry.
I found a 20 mm Carb., and bought a High Compression WEBCO Head with Compression Release
I cleaned and inspected all the other engine parts.
I then sent the Engine cases, etc., and Everything else to Greg Watkins to rebuild. (Terrific Job Greg!!!) it runs Great!!!

The Gas Tank was pretty good with just surface rust (still had 1-1/2 Gal of 40+ YO Gas in it!) and just a few Small dents, but I got a "Clarke Tank" since it was cheaper than to rehab the OEM one.


I Bought the Hodaka Emblem Tank Stickers fro Red Bubble.

and the Tank Knee Pads.


The Seat was GONE!!! the pan had broken Mounting Tabs, cracks, and Lots of RUST so I found a NEW "Steens" Seat for $50.00 at BMI.

but I had to fabricate the Mounting brackets. (See Pix)

I rewired the whole MC, got a Headlight Off- Hi- Lo switch added a New Main Switch, New Battery, and Headlight


Now after 2 years it is almost complete and ready for the battle with NM MVD!!! Only came with a Bill of Sale!
I plan to ride it on the streets and see if I can "Restore my Past Hodaka Days again!

I still need a set of Stock Handle Bars (Higher than the MX ones I am using), a brake Switch, and a few other parts.

Great job. Thanks for sharing. Nice that you were able to make a seat to fit, it looks good. I know the early seats are almost impossible to find...in usable condition.
