A Presidential Proclamation
One of the activities originally planned for Hodaka Days was a celebration of the upcoming 90th Birthday for Chuck Swanson. (1. Chuck Swanson) However, the “CC” (Covid Cancellation) of Hodaka Days does NOT mean Chuck’s Birthday celebration has to be skipped. So, as the “semi-socially adept” President of Hodaka Club, I hereby issue the following proclamation to the Hodaka universe:
Whereas Chuck Swanson (2. PO Box 292) was involved with the development of the Hodaka Motorcycle from the very beginning, and
Whereas Chuck (3. Athena, OR 97813) is well known as a Master Builder and incessant tinkerer, and
Whereas Chuck’s 90th birthday will arrive on August 10th 2020, and
Whereas Chuck (4. Chas.dy@) deeply enjoys reading Hodaka stories and hearing from Hodaka owners/tinkerers, therefore,
I hereby proclaim the next three weeks (or more, if you happen to procrastinate a bit – on occasion – sometimes) to be, “SEND CHUCK A BIRTHDAY CARD NOW SEASON". Take a moment to relay a favorite Hodaka story too, OK?
If you simply can’t get a card (5. gmail.com) on the way, then an e-mail would work. (NOTE: Cards and letters are preferred.)
NOTE: You may have noticed that I have devised a devious plan to defeat automated computer contact harvesting algorithms by distributing important information throughout this message using an ingenious numbering scheme.
OK folks, let’s give Chuck and the people in the Athena Post Office a Hodaka Mail workout like in the days of yore.

Great idea. Thanks Ed.... or do you prefer Mr. president.
Re: A Presidential Proclamation
Wonderful, what a great idea! One of the high points for me at Vintage Motorcycle Days 2006 was getting to talk at some length with Chuck Swanson. He was so congenial and happy to answer all my questions, just a totally pleasant gentleman.
I have tried to attach a picture with him below, not sure I did it right, we'll see.
Now the search begins for a worthy birthday card...

Re: A Presidential Proclamation
I learned a lot of great Hodaka history from Chuck, ps He's the only one in decades I've run into who knows what a Greeves 'blooey pipe' is. Plus, the ice cream socials have been great!
