SCW cylinder on a CW lower
SCW cylinder on a CW lower
I have a SCW cylinder bored 80 over and a SCW head and I'm thinking of getting it reclined. Will it work on a CW lower and will it work with either a SCW or a CW piston and if SCW piston does it have to have a reed valve

Re: SCW cylinder on a CW lower
SC cylinder embodies reed-porting and MUST use a reed valve and a "hole-y" piston.
CW cylinder is piston-port induction, so no reed valve and no holes in the middle-to-lower part of the piston skirt (there is a small window just below the ring which matches with the "Victory Port"). You can't use the SC piston (with multiple holes) in a piston-port cylinder.

Keep the rubber side down!

Thank you Ed that is very helpful. I think I'm going to keep looking for a CW cylinder and piston to keep it original. Have a blessed and safe 4th.
