a little 01 DS clutch advice pretty please
Just finished blueprinting an essentially brand new 01 DS clutch. I have a quick question. On disassembly, there were single springs in each well on the hub and gear. The specs page on HPI describes inner and outer springs like many Hodie clutches have. This is my first 01. I seem to recall a switch from nested, dual springs to a single, heavier spring per well. After that awesome build-up, here's the question - should there be one heavy spring or two lighter springs per well on the 01 clutch - or does it matter? The clutch pack came together nicely.

The Illustrated Parts List in the Model 01 Dirt Squirt Owner's Manual lists a "single" spring set up for each spring pocket in the clutch. The spring listed is PN 934011.

Thanks fellas. Interesting. The springs in the clutch cleaned up nicely and, like the rest of the bike had about 4 hours run time on them. Back in they went. I guess what was confusing is that in the Hodaka Parts website library in the Specifications by Model "book", the 01 DS specs under the "clutch" heading lists dual springs. The schematic shows only the single spring PN 934011 as you've described Captain. Must have been a hold-over from the toaster tank DS specs when the 01 DS specs were printed. There are quite a few corrections on the 01 DS specs on the HPI site. Mayhaps I will let Terry know about this one too. That data could be a bit cornfusing to someone building a DS clutch pack. Thanks again fellas.
