Hodaka Days 2020 Virtual Event- June 15, 2020 Deadline

Post by bobwhitman »

Fellow Hodakaphiles-

As we all deal with the stresses, stains and risks related to the coronavirus, it’s high time to strap on our masks, straddle our trusty mechanical steeds and ride off together (6’ apart, please) into (what we imagine to be) the Blue Mountains outside of Weston and Athena, Oregon.

With your help, we’re gonna try to create a special Hodaka Days 2020 Resonator issue. To do so, we have to get off our quarantined duffs and pull together the following material:
• Special coronavirus-equipped Hodakas;
• Since we can’t do the Bad Rock ride this year, short stories and/or photos of the places you plan to ride on your own virtual International Hodaka Days 2020 trail rides (June 26-30, 2020);
• Entertaining memories of your experiences at Hodaka Days prior (surely you remember… and are willing to share) your overly enthusiastic celebration of safely completing the Bad Rock… or of being dragged back on the oafissal Sag Waggon, when you fouled your 14th spark plug on the Umatilla County TT and Poker Run… or of so efficiently generating spark that you (ahem) toasted your scooter, creating a 280 lb. paperweight (remember, Erv?).

Gregg Floren has offered to put together a timeline of Hodaka Days Past, Captain Ed promises, in addition to his always memorable Presidential musings to prepare a special set of Tech Editor instructions on potty-training your piddly Hodaka, and heaven knows what fuel I may throw into the fire.

BUT: The key to this all, is that any material for the issue must get to me (address below) no later than Monday June 15, 2020, if we are to roll out his epic (?) issue by June 26-30. We need your help… and we need it NOW!

I’ll miss the trip out and back. I’ll miss the pie at Sherri’s. I’ll miss just hanging out in the park. I’ll miss hanging out with friends, the old ones and the new ones. I look forward to bigger and better next year.

On a normal year I would be headed out west bound tomorrow morning. Will be the first year at home for Father’s Day since 2013. Chicken bbq for lunch. Good times.

HD’2020 issue will be out this week. All edited, final layout being completed. Some nice stuff, including Hodakas in the age of coronavirus, Hodaka Days historical time line and technical advice from the Captain on potty training your piddling tiddler.

Arriving at your in-box by Friday!
