I have, what was told to me, a 5 speed CR gear box. It was in a flat track motor that a guy here in Colorado built. I believe it is what he claims it is, but the big thing that I am seeing is that all information says it should have a snap ring holding on the counter shaft sprocket and this is a standard nut affair. What makes me believe it is a CR box is that all the gears are loose and slide on the main and output shafts except the small gear on the main shaft, just like the diagram in the Ace 90 Racing Parts booklet. Any insight?
Thanks

I think this schematic may help.
A revision was made "way back" and the ring was replaced by a design using a nut.
I put a "close ratio" gear set in my Ace 100.
But if you are speaking about an Ace 90 motor, then what I've given you here isn't going to help.

Re: Optional Close Ration 5 Speed
The ace 90 came out with the five speed transmission, 91 series racing parts. I do not think the 91461R main shaft was ever used on the ace 100. The ace 90 came with a nut on the counter shaft and only the racing kit 91 series used the snap ring. Today and back then you could have used the 91461R in a ace 100 or used the counter shaft with the nut in the 90cc racing transmission. I would say the model 92 never used the snap ring on the counter shaft. I don't think the drawing is correct.?? The original design used a nut, the ace 90 racing transmission CR and WR used a c clip and then the transmissions went back to a nut on the counter shaft for ace 90, ace 100, 92A, 92B 92B+. I have been wrong before. All the 91 series items in your chart are ace 90 racing parts. ---------------- Clarence

If the standard output shaft will work in the CR gearbox then that makes sense. It is in a 100 motor.
Thanks.

The gears only spin on the counter shaft not on the main shaft. ------Clarence
