Air cleaner seal
Air cleaner seal
On the Wombat (94) air cleaner is the seal between the cover and the backing plate foam, an o'ring or quad ring? Thanks for any info, D
Re: Air cleaner seal
It is a narrow rubber c channel strip that fit over the outer edge of the backing plate. It becomes dried out and brittle over time so most did not survive.
Re: Air cleaner seal
Thank you olddogs. I can make one. My first Hodaka so I am full of questions!
Re: Air cleaner seal
I make my own out of rubber c channel sold as an edge protector for sheet metal products. It must be thin. The cover clearance is pretty tight. Put a light stretch into it while in place on the backing plate and use a piece of plastic wrap under the joint, I then connect the 2 ends together with a drop of super glue and later remove the plastic wrap. This keeps it from sticking and allows you to remove the gasket at a later date for painting or cleaning,
Re: Air cleaner seal
Olddogs, good news and bad news on the AC seal. Got some edging from Mcmaster-Carr and it worked like a champ. Bad news, hit the wrong amount in the quantity box and now probably have enough edging to seal all the airboxes in Hodaka nation. LOL! Thanks for the tip. D

Small business opportunity? I don't think anybody is reproducing them.

If someone needs some I would be glad to help them out. D
