01 Dirt Squirt piston rings

Post by DangerWorm »

Hello all,
I have an 01 Dirt Squirt that needs the top end freshened up. I have done some google searching but haven't came up with much. Can anyone suggest a source for pistons/rings or some parts that can be substituted? I haven't looked at the Hodaka seen in probably 15 years and it seems the parts are not as readily available. Also I want to ask has Strictly Hodaka gone out of business? I did see that some parts were available on Hodaka-Parts.com but not what I need. Thanks in advance for any help.

First, Strictly Hodaka and Hodaka-Parts are now combined. Most parts are readily available but at this time the piston kits for the 01 Dirt Squirt (same as 99 and 02 Road Toads) are really difficult to source. Perhaps they will be available again some day but it is a huge investment to do that. In the mean time your best option is to use a single ring 93 Super Rat piston and have it machined with the reed windows. Commonly done by the Hodaka machinists out there. I have a Road Toad that has been done this way and it runs great.

I did the same thing Dale stated. I sent my Road Toad cylinder to Terry. Hodaka Dave did the machining and fitted the Super Rat piston. Received it back and assembled. Bike started on 3rd kick. Runs great, very good power. Simple solution.

Hey Vic, do you have hodaka Dave’s contact information? I would like to get a quote on having this done to my DS.

Just contact Terry Larson at Hodaka-Parts.com. Hodaka Dave does the machining for Terry. You can use a Super Rat piston. :ugeek: Victor
