Well, I've put off posting any more parts before I put a shout out for a decent Combat Wombat core motor suitable for a rebuild. I can trade, buy, or any combination of the two, whichever works out best for both parties. I've got plenty of parts to work with: frames, pipes, engine cases, engine internals, forks, shocks, gas tanks, wheels, seats and seat bases, and small bits. I might even be persuaded to part with a complete 250SL, 175SL or Ace 100 motor, or a Model 97 or Model 98 expansion chamber (some dings, but good candidates for repair if desired). I'd prefer to do one clean deal if possible, but I'm flexible.

Bill, have almost complete 72' wombat engine...are they the same? Currently finishing Combat Wombat restoration myself. BTW...do you know correct placement of gears. (1st thru 5th)? Reassembled mine per schematic and having problem once assembled the gears, kick start and crank all too tight....driving me nuts...any help?

Had the exact same problem. The kickstart shaft is not seating all the way down. The kickshaft and roller assembly must be installed very carefully so that the entire assembly seats fully down against the case. Once I found this out, the next one was easy.

I think bullfrog and hodakaguy have probably given you a couple of things to chew on. I'm not home at the moment, where I have a Combat motor apart with everything still in the right-hand case. If you still need help, let me know later this evening, and I'll take a look.
The Wombat and Combat Wombat are really different motors. The tope ends are where the differences really are; the Combat has the aluminum head and cylinder, while the Wombat has an iron cylinder. The CW also uses a 28mm carburetor, and the Womabt, only a 24mm. The transmission gearing is different, also. I might be interested in your Wombat motor. If you want, send me a private message and we can talk about it.
