I bought two lots of bike parts and luckily one was almost complete. The restoration is going well. Special thanks to Matt Glascock who sent me a lighting assembly. I think I’ve matched the original paint fairly well. I’ve also been building a Velocette and estimate I’ve spent 50 hours rebuilding the engine, gearbox, clutch and primary drive. I think it took me 5 hours to rebuild the Wombat motor and yesterday whilst looking at the frame and rear wheel I thought, “I reckon I could drop the engine in now”. It took all of 5 minutes. You’ve got to love Hodakas.

I’ve been trying to find a wiring diagram for the 94/94a. I think they used to be on the Strictly Hodaka site but I can’t find it any on the H-parts site. Does anyone know where to get a diagram?

I just finished the refurb on my 100B+ and can now get back to my friend's 1949 Velocette 350 MAC. I was putting the Hodaka cases together on Sunday and riding on Monday. Almost too easy, but you MUST pay attention. Or read the manual...;-]

The Velo has been a year and the only thing that hasn't been apart is the engine bottom end as it was sound. It has been a challenge finding parts and engineering around all the messes and mistakes of previous owners. We're just finishing off the primary drive which worked but needed major clutch service and the inevitable attempts at leak mitigation.

Pretty much extreme opposites to deal with.

Hi everyone in hibernation.
Could someone lower their mask enough to stop their glasses fogging up and come up with an answer to my electrical wiring question.
I have just been neatening up my 94 Wombat wiring ( new sheathing, some new connectors, moving the condenser to under the tank) and found that I have one wire that I can’t find a home for.
In the diagram above from Givergas (thanks again) there is a green/yellow wire coming out from the magneto and appears to go nowhere. On my bike it runs through the loom from the magneto and whilst all other wires (black, green, blue, yellow) join in the four pin plug, the lonely green/yellow is a nowhere wire.
Is it left over from an earlier model, is it for an accessory (cigarette lighter, heated grips, trailer plug), was it to confuse Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha.

hey bert looks good i haven't put my mask on yet this morning so, when i did my wombat i asked the same question about the green/yellow wire and got a reply from our captain ED {.....The Yellow/Green wire connects to exactly what is shown in the wiring diagram - nothing. Yer done. ED.....} good enough for me ....albert

If you zoom in on the wiring diagram, you can see where the wire ends, not terminating into anything. Victor

Why not just cut it off at its origin so as to not have an unnecessary wire floating around?

Right, so I’ve sealed it over but next time the flywheel is off I’ll terminate it at the magneto.
Last few jobs now - rebuild seat, paint headlight and air cleaner and build front wheel.

PS: I guess I don't "get" the concern about the "orphan wire". Thousands upon thousands of Wombats have 'em with no ill effects.

No huge concern, I wouldn’t class it as concerning as finishing an engine rebuild and finding a left over nut in the bottom of the tray. It’s just unlike the Japanese to leave a wire hanging without purpose. You expect it with a British bike ( I’ve got a Commando with a couple of great examples).

Australian Wombats have completely different concerns to Mafiosa. Mostly sustenance and procreation.

Quiet times. I’ve stripped the rear Wombat wheel which required loads of heat to free the nipples. Now need to clean the spokes and nipples and Zn plate them. I’m going to be a good PO. I’ve ground recesses in the bearing spacer so the next owner can knock the bearing out easily. Picked this idea up from another bike I restored years ago. An MZ 250.
