Over the years I have noticed people have asked about carburetor setting for different Hodaka models, both stock and modified. I think it would be helpful for everyone if we had a list somewhere showing what came standard on the different models and what others are running on either modified bikes/engines, or at different elevations. To get it started, here are some spec's that I have collected over the years:
(Warning, these are only ones I have gotten off of different post - other than the factory settings. I can't verify how accurate the settings will be for other bikes as I don't know what modifications were done to the modified bike to begin with.)

Carburetor Settings List

Re: Carburetor Settings List
The only settings you could come up with with any consistency is the stock ones. Anything on a modified bike is subject to too many variables to list. Does it have a high compression head or after market head? Is it ported and to who's specs? Have any mods been done to the carb itself or the airfilter assembly? Is the pipe stock or custom made? Altitude or weather conditions? Could write a whole book.
Re: Carburetor Settings List
Understood, but a listing can give people a ballpark idea of where to start. For anyone with a modified engine or for people putting different carbs on their bikes, it is not supposed to be a definitive list, just a guide on what others had found that works.

Re: Carburetor Settings List
Great info resource, Dirty. Thank you for compiling and posting it. It would also be helpful to know the JN clip positions too but I don't know if that info was available from your source. When I don't know, I start in the middle position and go from there.
Re: Carburetor Settings List
I concur with Matt. Although the stock carb config is listed for each model in Terry’s Hodaka Library.
I see from the Model 99 to the Model 02 they made changes in both the main & pilot jets. I tried the 170/50 combo in my 99 and it wouldn’t even start with a 50 pilot jet. Dropped it to 35 and it started easily and ran well.
I may try the 160/30 combo listed for the 02 and see what happens, but she winds up all the way at full throttle now! And I have stock everything except for using a Super Rat piston because there aren’t any 2 ring Toad pistons available. Victor
