I received a free Combat Wombat motor in a box. It looks very complete. However, included in the box is a reed valve assembly and what appears to be a Super Combat piston. (Pic attached).
Also attached is a pic of the I un-cleaned intake port of the cylinder.
What clues can I look for to tell me if this indeed a cylinder which has been manipulated for a reed valve intake system? Thanks! Victor

Re: Combat Wombat Reed Valve Question
Being able to see through to the interior of the bore above the horizontal divider in the intake passage tells you that, unquestionably, the cylinder has been modified for reed valve.
If the cylinder were still "stock" piston port induction, you would only be able to see into the cylinder bore through the two holes below the horizontal divider. Prior to modification, the area above the horizontal divider was the "ceiling" of the intake passage (it was solid cast iron there prior to mods).

Keep the rubber side down!
Re: Combat Wombat Reed Valve Question
Thank you Captain! I was thinking along those lines, but I hadn’t before seen a piston port cylinder modified for reed valve.
So then the Model 97 piston is the correct piston to use, yes? I need a new piston. Also, what’s the best way to clean the intake port to ready it for use? Bictor
