are there any pics or info here about installing seat covers properly?

I’m surprised no one has answered you yet. From the bikes I’ve worked on, I’ve always taken the seats to a local upholstery shop.

But, you can buy a reproduction Hodaka seat covers. On the underside of the pan there are “points” to which you can attach a cover. Can’t tell you much more than that. Victor

when i put my new cover on it was pretty self explanatory just bent out the tabs and put the new one on and folded down the tabs as i went . on the end near the front theirs a wire you pull and tuck under the tabs real easy to do....albert

This is a picture of the hand written instructions that I received when I purchased a seat cover from Paul.

I like to put a little spray adhesive on the seat pan, a little baby powder on the foam and warm the cover with a hair dryer.

I farm mine out to an upholstery guy. He's got the tools and knowledge to do a good job.

I agree some times for a reasonable cost the seat can be 100 percent. Flaws in the seat can show up more than a dented tank. The seat does not make it run better or last longer. ---------------Clarence

I went and looked at those covers on EBay. If you get one let us know how the the quality fit are.
I need a 93 Super Rat seat cover. Didn’t see any of them on EBay.

I take empty seat pans to my upholsterer and he builds me a new seat for $80. Including adding all padding needed. The seats are comfortable & stable as well as sturdy! The only thing missing is the Hodaka in white in the back of the seat. My understanding is you can reproduce what was originally there without it being a copywrite violation because you are replacing what you already purchased. Victor

i messaged him about the 93 covers, he put 3 on ebay i bought two, the other sold immediately, i also have an original that i will take to my upholsterer if the two dont work out, i just didnt want to take the seat apart if the new covers work out

A couple of things reference Victor's post. As far as copyright items, that applies to things you are trying to sell. If you want to print Hodaka (or anything else) on your own seat (and not sell it), have at it.

Second, if it was me, I would always try to buy a cover (or other part) from one of the Hodaka suppliers first (if we don't support them, they could stop supporting us). Only if I couldn't get it from them would I go to another source. Just my thoughts.

Hey guys, just got off phone from Terry Larson, and he indicated he had just received a load of seat foam,s don,t know which models and I know he has some covers, maybe not one for the bike you are looking for but it would be a 1st try if you working on a Hodaka and replacing seat items, give him a try; e-mail [email protected] Many time things seem to be not in stock for a specific model but behold he does have items for other models, ask him just don,t give up by not seeing it on his web order system, things come and go at the one and only number one Hodaka parts supplier in the USA, give him a try at least.
