Blowing globes

Post by Hosk1956 »

I am still blowing tail light globes on my 250ED, I have managed to slow the process using 24v globes but still an issue.
A fellow Aussie down here is using a circuit called 'globe saver' or something like that, it used to sold by Paul at Strictly Hodaka, does anybody know if these are still available?

I suspect that your brake/tail light issue may be coming from an intermittent connection to the headlight. Rapid ON-OFF cycles of the headlight will shunt ALL power to the tail light when the poor connection "opens" and the headlight goes out. All of this may be happening due to a poor connection or broken wire - combined with vibration. And it may be so fast that it is not detectable by eye.

The 6V voltage regulator from a Road Toad would be a good addition to your lighting system. It would probably protect your tail light even if you have an intermittent connection fault going on.
