Just in time for HD14 - Wombat Finished

Post by rlkarren »

After attending HD13 last year, I decided a Wombat would be more fitting than my Ace 90 for my commuter/fun vehicle. So, with lots of help from Doug, (flyingdg), I finished just in time for HD14. A few extra parts from SH are on the way, but for the most part it's finished.

Although this one was cleaner than the Ace 90 when I started, it gave me more trouble. A bad air leak resulted in a fried stator and a spun counter shaft bushing. I got lucky. Replaced the bushing, (it was still a snug fit so it didn't damage the boss), and the cylinder and head were re-decked. Machinist says he removed about .008" total from the head and cylinder decks. Most of it came off the head. Re-assembled and re-sealed; as soon as I fired it up it was immediately obvious that I got it right the second time. Runs fantastic!

The only other major modification is that I'm using a 6v 35/35w halogen semi-sealed beam that I've talked about before. Very simple mod to the trim ring to make it work. It's function is very satisfactory.

Looking forward to the Poker Run and Bad Rock.. ;-) and of course.. Pancake breakfast!

COOL bike Roger!
Sounds like an adventure (I guess they all are a little bit).
Really nice work getting her all complete - you'll be riding the Poker Run and Bad Rock in style.
Oh, and see you for pancakes!

P.S. Thanks again for sharing the info on those headlights - great find for folks looking for lights to fit in Hodie buckets.
