Foot change inside cover

please excuse this question but i have to ask . is there an alternative to the "Foot change inside cover" ? and wile im at it, what is the purpose of it? thanks ...albert

To keep crud out of the shifter mechanism?

There is an alternative being made ( or was). The cover keeps the shifter area from filling up with dirt and mud. Also because of it's thickness it acts as a spacer. Maybe someone who knows will relay the info on the uprated version.

Yes that area is a billet piece
