Spark Plug Wires???

Post by viclioce »

Where are you guys finding spark plug wires for rebuilding your coils? Seems like every place I go, all the plug wires are carbon graphite composite which obviously can not be soldered.

I thought I got lucky today and found one 24” wire with 90* boots at both ends which has a lead core. But it’s the same stuff, with synthetic Center & you can’t solder it!!! Please let me know where to get some kind of wire which can be soldered! Thanks! :ugeek: Victor

EVERYWHERE! You can buy 7mm, 8mm on EBAY. You can buy 1 foot or a 100 foot roll. Any color! You can buy see through. You can get copper, pre tinned copper and Stainless Steel.7 millimeter is the most common size used on Motorcycles but 8mm is OK too. I like Pre-Tinned 7mm Copper Core. Easy to solder. If you want red, MSD and Moroso sell it. Yellow, ACCEL Spark Plug wires. Just look up 7mm Copper Core Spark Plug wires. The colors will amaze you! Joe.

Joe, it took several parts stores here, but I finally found 7mm tinned Copper. I thought I was going to have to wait for it ordering on line.

Must be because Santa Fe is not a big city. I finally found a spool at NAPA & bought 8 feet just to have it around.

Maybe you don’t know what it’s like to live in the Capital City of a State and not be able to find things when you need them. And I was on the middle of 2 rebuilds & didn’t want to stop!

I finished 2 coils today. One for the Combat Wombat & 1 for the Ace B. Just need to let the grey RTV dry over night! :ugeek: Victor

Yes I did! Followed it to a tee! It was very helpful to see it done in advance of doing it myself! Great video, as always, Kelly! :ugeek: Victor
