SL250
SL250
I recently acquired what I believe is a 1977 SL250. I have been trying to identify it further but am yet to see any images that match mine. It has some quality (at the time) graphics on the tank and side covers that appear to have been on there a long time as the color underneath them is bright orange. The frame number is N-04444 with a build date of 4/77.
Can anyone shed some insight on this for me?

I think it is a 250 ED, that some kind soul put some stripes on long ago. --------Clarence l
Re: SL250
You indeed have a Model 70 250SL Hodaka with someones idea of custom graphics. The 250ED had a plastic tank and a left side muffler.
Not real rare, not real valuable, but easy and inexpensive to restore since not much pricey chrome is involved. Fun for tooling around the neighborhood on, but not a serious dirt bike. Lots of parts available.

Yep. SL250. I have one. Really fun cruiser but a fire road bomber at best. Too heavy for the woods. Worth a rider resto for sure.
Re: SL250
Thanks
Definitely a metal tank and definitely orange even on the underside. Everything I have seen so far is red SL250"s. I guess there were orange also?
The graphics appear to be much better than what the majority of us had available to us in the seventies. We had colored contact paper and that was about it.

Re: SL250
Nope, no orange rendition. Red and a couple variations of white. The air box and battery covers matched tank color. The red paint on a lot of Hodaka motorcycles has faded to an orange hue over the years.

Re: SL250
Matt is right - there was no orange 250SL. Either the red faded, or the owner who did the tank graphics did a thorough re-paint in orange (including underside).

In my response I listed the wrong model and nobody made mention. Thanks--Clarence
