So just as a point of discussion, as I’ve seen others mention they’ve done it, besides adding the reed valve assembly & a ported piston, what else needs to be done, specifically in a CW cylinder to make a complete reed valve conversion?
I wouldn’t do the work myself, would probably task Hodaka Dave to do it, but what Cylinder work is needed for a fully functional reed valve conversion, and what is the overall performance increase? Victor

Re: CW Reed Valve Conversion?
It involves a mild porting job on the cylinder (opening up the intake port into the victory port is the most important item there), windows cut into the piston and bolting the items together. Then the carb (if you stay with the standard 28mm carb) will need to be re-jetted. The main benefits are the engine has better response in lower revs and is not prone to loading up when the throttle is opened up quickly under load. That is with just the reed valve added, the minor cylinder porting being done and the piston work. But, with a reed valve, you can have much more porting work done to get a lot more power and the engine still is very rideable (not real peaky). The more porting work done usually requires a larger carb to take advantage of the porting work.
For just a good running and riding bike, I would just stick with the basic porting, piston work and reed.

Re: CW Reed Valve Conversion?
I like my combo reed and PVL.
Re: CW Reed Valve Conversion?
I was going to stick with the std piston port set up at first. Depending on how much I’m able to ride in the future, and how much I can “Re-learn” to push a 125 to it’s limits, I may consider a reed valve config down the road. Victor
