Alsport/Steen Hodaka
Alsport/Steen Hodaka
Ok, so I had a couple Hodaka's in my youth, a Combat Wombat and Ace. I just found this locally, bought for 100 bucks, gonna bring back to life - I hope. Motor is stuck but plug was out and bike sat inside a fairly water tight barn for 30 years.
The big item missing - the exhaust/muffler - which I need. I plan on doing a full resto on this, to a nice rider quality but not showroom. Any lines on parts would be great. Especially the exhaust.
Thanks!

Hello, I might suggest contact Hodaka-Parts Inc in Missouri, Terry Larson they have a great web site and they do a lot of restoration and rebuilding of Alsport-Steens, and Steens machines, I am sure they can help, send them an e-mail with info , Bruce Young

Watch the usual sites for vintage parts (e-bay, craigslist, http://www.vintagemx.us/cgi-bin/swapmeet.cgi). The pipe was a Torque Engineering pipe and they do show up from time to time. If you look at pictures of the Steen's, you can get a good idea of what the pipe looked like.
Re: Alsport/Steen Hodaka
Much appreciated, can anyone recommend any books on this bike, repair manual etc. too, can anyone decipher the numbers on the stem and engine? Someone told me this is a 90cc another, 100cc - The motor is locked and I'm going to pull apart to check rebuild-able or not.
My goal is to go through the entire thing and make a 8/9 out of 10 - but I'm not sure about fork rebuild since they're not "Hodaka" etc.
I've had a few Hodaka's when I was young, both 125's, so this bike is new territory for me.

The "E" motor is basically an Ace 100 motor, so when ordering parts you use the Ace 100 parts list. Unfortunately there is very little info out there to be had, call Terry at Hodaka-parts.com, he seems to be one of the info sources at this point, there are others, but Terry may be the easiest.

Re: Alsport/Steen Hodaka
Hello, to help again with this ID of the engine, slow the confusion of weather its a 90cc or 100cc engine, Thrownchain is right "E" engines generally where 100cc engine solld for just such use by several bike venders and replacement engines from stock. Look at the side cases do they both say Hodaka on them or does the shiftier side say ACE 100, if so its a ACE 100, ACE90,s would say just that on one side. Bruce And as suggest Terry Larson is you source for info and the largest source for Hodaka eng. parts in the USA.
