73 squirt

Post by philcarmell »

I'm a newbie. Was given a 73 squirt with forks wheels etc missing. What other models/years are compatible with this model? Thanks!

Just about all of the forks, except the Model 03 Wombat and the 175 & 250’s. At least that’s what I have been lead to believe! Any Ace, Wombat, Dirt Squirt Forks should work fine, right guys?

Most all of the 30mm forks will fit,but there are some differences. The ones that would be the same as yours will have fork caps that are the same diameter as the fork tubes. The older Ace100 had a larger fork cap with a washer. The forks for your Squirt should measure 28 3/4 from the center of the axle to the top of the tube at full extension.
Your Squirt had a 19” front wheel and a 17” rear. The later Ace model 92B+ has the same front but rear is 18” and they will work on yours as long as the rear hub is a cush drive with a 6 bolt sprocket and 15mm dia. axle. I think all of the Cush drive type rear wheels had a 15mm rear axle. The older Ace100 has a non Cush drive rear hub with a 4 bolt sprocket and 12mm axle so you don’t want that one. Wheels from a Wombat will fit,but the front is a 21” so I think you would want an 18” rear to go with it.

Phil, post a photo of what you have to start with. I will give us a good idea of how to help you. And where your at, there could be another Hodaka but near by. Check out my YouTube channel Socalhodaka, you might be able to take away so info from it.
