Was this motor a runner? Or did it have water in it that froze?

Well Sherlock, another mystery solved.
This bike sat against a fence in the Seattle area for 30 years with a rag in the intake.
I shoulda known

There was a guy at Mid Ohio a couple of years ago was trying to sell covers off bikes that were ice damaged. You know if it is pushed out from the inside it's ice. Surprising the damage ice can do.

I would've chased down a case half myself.

Thrown, I've seen quite a few ice damaged case halves intermixed with parts stashes that held other, more interesting items of attraction. Agreed, its amazing the force freezing water is capable of generating.

Damn Geary! Is that the same case from you other thread? Either way that is an impressive repair. I’ve never seen what ice could do to a motor but I’m glad my bikes winter in the confines of the garage. As far as scars go that is an impressive one too.

Thrownchain, I have a retired friend who is obviously a very good welder. I gave this to him to play with along with $100. He gave me the case and $60 back. I still might get another case and just keep this one on the wall.
Bev, No this is the case from my Super Combat. Every Hodaka I have has a cracked or broken case.
Vic, I have at least two more shifter cases to have repaired too.
Gonna keep my friend busy

Sounds like it! Good price, too! $40 is what I paid to have both shifter cases repaired. Victor
