Upcoming Tails of the Next Ace!!!

Well. My nephew’s Mom & Dad said yes to the Ace 100 B. But, my sister in law, his Grandmother stepped in and said “Not only no but Hell No!” Poor guy I felt so bad for him.

So, I stepped down to the next Nephew in line, who’s name is Jordan! Jordan’s mom & Dad said yes, tonight! So I showed Jordan the bike in it’s current state, and what I figure it will look like when it’s done. Jordan is 12 years old right now, and has agreed to come over and work on it with me. We will start on it & try to finish it this coming Summer when he’s out of school!

So one great nephew’s loss is another great nephew’s gain! I’ve been amassing parts for it, thanks to help from Bruce! And I already have the Rustoleum Safety Red waiting in the garage for Warner temps! Probably start stripping it down the end of March, and preparing the frame for paint, doing the rough assembly and breaking it back down for refurbishment.

I’m wondering if the folks at the Salt Lake City Chrome Place will do the pipe. It’s a Chrome B pipe for this model. I like the black ones better but it will be nice to do this version of a B instead of a B+!

And more good news! I recovered the original B+ tank for my 1972 (OK my grandson’s B+) and will be swapping the tanks out for correction! I need to do some rust removal on the inside of the tank first. So I have projects to keep me busy over the Winter months! Victor

Also, it turns out I sort of bought a pig in a poke! The cylinder I purchased for the Green Toad was in fact well worn and no longer anywhere close to a .020 oversize.

I sent the cylinder to Terry & Hodaka Dave. There was no crosshatching in the cylinder at all & the base of the cylinder was bigger than the top. So Hodaka Dave is doing the bore & Terry is fitting it with a Super Rat piston & ring since Road Toad pistons aren’t being found anywhere.

The Green Toad should be back together as soon as the cylinder & parts arrive in the mail. Then she should be able to develop more than 80-90 psi and start up. That’s all the Green Toad is waiting for to be completed!

Thrownchain. I didn’t go out on the tree. She Stepped In and opened her BIG MOUTH. But, that’s my wife’s sister. She got mad when her husband bought a bike, but rode with him for a while. Then she got Really Mad when her son bought a bike, after graduating Engineering School and getting married. But Grandma’s have a way of getting their way. The thing that pissed me off was, it was AFTER I spent over $500 & 11 hours of driving to go pick it up. Oh well. The next one in line got to be the lucky one! Victor

Thank you Danny! That means an aweful lot to me coming from you! I remember coming home from Colorado with the B+ and the 2 Toad frames and everything in boxes and piled on my seats! You were the first one I called to celebrate my find! I was overly satisfied in just what I had accomplished in the negotiations. 3 bikes later & I’m almost done!!! Victor
