That brings up an interesting question, Captain. Is there ANY back flow through the carby before the reeds close off the intake track? In that case, there may be a nominal advantage to attempting resonance supercharging with a velocity stack. Third, per my relatively sketchy recollection you are correct. A longer stack provides low end benefit and the shorter stack enhances high end performance.

You might be right Ed , I may have even heard that from the same Tuner although not in a Holiday Inn. The Pod is not locked in,Its just that I had it lying around. I can still use another type. What is the diameter of a stock 97 air filter I wonder. This POD is over size its probably not far off the 97 diameter. I might get my workshop vacuum out and test the theory .

Well I just got back from airflow testing . My V stack fits perfectly on the end of my workshop vac hose. The flow appears stronger from 90 angle . The test cotton would sense the suction at about 1.5 inch from 90 deg and 1 inch from 0 deg angle of incident. Theory proven until busted.

I have some side plates in progress to seal off the airbox and provide a number plate. I tried this last year with 3 mm Acrylic plastic but it was too brittle, it cracked. I have this other plastic HDPE 3 mm . It’s a lot more flexible and super easy to heat form. I’ll see how it goes.

What are your fasteners tied into? To the other sides of the plastic airbox or did you add tabs to the frame?

Hi yes correct , I welded metal tabs to the frame that I welded nuts on. On a previous attempt at this I had pop riveted tabs to the the plastic as I didn’t have the down tubes. Those tabs worked loose over time .

They are Honda CRF 450 pegs. They are not a straight swap over. Quite a bit of fabrication went into making them work,I had a lot of spare time..

I had to make a Bushing and ground a lot off the peg stops. I used the original Hodaka springs . It looks a bit back yard ( and it is ) but they work remarkably well.

Very cool, Third Stone. For those who don't have the juice to properly retrofit modern pegs, (namely me), Hodaka Dave has made some wider pegs for a few bucks for my race bikes by welding on a band of toothed steel with spacers around the perimeter of my original Hodaka pegs. Not quite the support of a modern peg but they do bolt right up.

Here is a picture of the Carby inlet all smoothed out. It’s a 30mm , I know everyone else is sticking much bigger carby’s in but I wanted to try something else. Full disclosure, I run. 34mm on my race bike.

This is the 34mm off the race bike. I turned down the inlet to add the extension ring to give the filter boot more area to bite down on.

I’m done with the AirBox now. As good as I had hoped for. The new plastic much more resilient than the stiff Acrylic. This is just mocked up for now.

Betor shocks that are way over sprung , something else that needs attending to. My other bike has Progressive Shocks which I prefer.

I'm guessing that a considerable amount of work will be involved to shape the bottom end of the spigot to match the case reed induction system.
