part number question

Howdy all. Quick question. A friend of mine is refurbishing a Model 95 Combat Wombat. He needs a shift side crank case half. The case stamp on his broken case half is unfamiliar to me. It is stamped 9(blank)1001-02. In this case the "blank" is a raised area where it looks like the die didn't make contact with the case. It just left a small raised area with no engrossed marking. Is this a standard Wombat/Combat Wombat case, why the blank space within the engrossed part number stamping, and what does the "-02" at the end of the part number symbolize? Thanks fellas!

The raised numbers are a casting number, I have cases here, I can check. Most inner cases are the same casting, just different machining for different motors ( 100 vs 125)

This is what we're talking about. Notice the raised section with no number, that is a Wombat case half. The other one is an Ace case half.

This is what is marked on the right side case. The raised one with the blank is under the kickstarter location. The second pic is the raised number that would be behind the clutch on the inner case half.

So now to ask the experts, first 2 digits - model number? Also I have different 4 digit codes : one is 1001, and the other is 1002, just signifying a later production? As for the last numbers I have an 01 and an 02. So former company workers, is there an answer.

Also this is a model 93 rat motor. Bottom pic is bottom left case half, top pic is number behind the clutch, there is no number under the kicker location.

It does make one wonder what they were thinking with these casting numbers. I have 2 left side center cases for the Model 94 95 and one has a raised area in place of the 2, and the other one is smooth and missing the 2. Same deal for the Model 96. The only thing that I can figure is that was done to stamp in the Model Number the cases were cast for. A 4 for 94, 5 for 95, 6 for 96 and so on. Strange. That`s what I would have done for less confusion at the Engine Plant. Whatever they were thinking it does cause confusion. The ISO is the pitch on the threads. That can drive one nuttier too!
