Is that the part number for a parts list for a 100 B+?

If you go with the basis that 92550B is a parts list for the 100B, the 92550A would be for the 100A, if it ever existed.

Although I can't verify it, I suspect it might be the # for the special tool for installing the snap ring on the end of the control shaft.

throwchain wins a new condenser
The exact answer comes from the February 1, 1970 Hodaka price list that was included in the hodaka dealer guide page 35.

Don't worry about it, keep it, may need a favor down the road, square up then.

Clever Thrown! And Clarence - sneaky way to return to the mythical 100A conundrum. :)

Yup, Clarence seems to enjoy a bit of prodding others on occasion.

As mentioned in the book, there were infrequent references to "100A" back in the day, but my own memories and comments from every PABATCO employee I interviewed about ACE models confirm that no one used the reference "Ace 100A". And historic PABATCO/Hodaka factory documents use the reference very infrequently. So, there is a sort of schizophrenic situation where there are rare references to a "100A", but no common agreement of what a "100A" might be. Certainly there were production batches from Ace 100, through Ace 100B and Ace 100B+, but no clear and accepted definition of an Ace 100A. Please note this quote from the book, "Also, the Owner's Manual and several printed brochures clearly state that the Model 92A is the Ace 100B." (Inconsistent records are apparently the gift that keeps on giving ;) )

Clarence got me once a few years back with a post about the Hodaka Maverick. I objected, stating that no such thing existed . . . and he posted a scan of an advertisement touting the Hodaka Maverick! So far as I can tell, the only ad ever put out with that reference (and you won't find "Maverick" in any PABATCO/Hodaka production records).

As to the question, "What does this mean?" It means there was a problem with someone somewhere at either Hodaka or PABATCO who used an "A" reference regarding the Ace 100 series (perhaps only once) - which then got picked up and repeated (rarely) on other printed goods. I recall a black 3-fold brochure with orange text which had an "A" part number - but clearly described a "B" model (and I think even contained the phrase "Ace 100B" in the text!)
