73 dirt squirt frame not stamped.

Ok I have a 73 Dirt squirt I’m restoring and it has the front ID tag but the serial is not stamped anywhere on the frame? Anyone else ever see this.

Sounds strange , can you provide us a picture?

The frame number should be stamped on the outside of the frame reinforcing gusset near the top of the left down tube of the frame next to the steering head. If this gusset was reinforced or rewelded and ground in a repair operation, the stamped frame number may have been obscured or obliterated. I currently have three 1973 Dirt Squirts and used to have three additional DS frames and all of them displayed the frame number on this gusset.
