That’s not a bad price! But when I have a seat recovered I usually need the foam rebuilt as well. I have a local upholsterer with over 50 years of experience. I take him a seat or seat pan, and he rebuilds the foam & covers it. Usually, if I take him a seat after 12 noon, he has it ready the next morning. Typically, he charges me about $80. The only thing missing is the name on the back of the seat. If I wanted, I could silk screen it on myself! :ugeek: Victor

That seems to be a very charitable upholsterer.

If replacement foam was available for the 250SL I would have opened my wallet wide. As it was I had to buy bulk foam and adhesive (almost $80 CAD) and carve it to shape myself, it wasn't easy. As I recall, professional upholsterers estimated well over one hundred for labour to shape the foam and install the new seat cover, both supplied by me.

Yikes! Well, I guess I’m lucky & not Canadian. Most of the time he cuts back half of the older hard foam and puts new softer foam on top. Says it makes the seat comfortable while stil providing some support!

I’ve had him do 3 seats so far & they have all been great. He usually finishes them in less than 24 hours too! :ugeek: Victor
