The motor mounts are the same but as far as the motor goes, pretty much nothing is the same. Your best bet is to find an older model Wombat or Combat Wombat motor. With a new motor you will still need a 125 pipe.

I should also mention that Hodaka sold a "Dirt Squirt Digger" kit back in the day. This was basically an early model Super Rat top end for the Dirt Squirt. So if you can find a Super Rat top end, carburetor, intake boot and pipe you will be able to get some more power from your Squirt. Consider a reed valve conversion for the Super Rat top end to make it more tractable.

However, the "Digger Kit" is an iron cylinder intended for the earlier "Ace" 100cc engines, and it seems the original post is about an alloy cylinder Squirt engine for the Model 01 painted tank Dirt Squirt. The "Digger Kit" cylinder won't fit on the later engine.

I thought the late model Squirts were made sometime after 1975, and the early Squirts were 1973, which would put this one in between. :?:

Regardless, if it is the late model Squirt it can updated with the later model Super Rat top end. The problem is that the transmission will suffer as there is no cushioned primary gear. In addition getting a pipe to fit will be costly. There is a hop up article for the Road Toad (shameless plug) in one of the Resonator Revisited issues a few years back. Since the Toad Toad engine is the same as the late model Squirt everything applies.

The old saying is "there is no replacement for displacement". A 125 Wombat or CW engine swap will end up being cheaper in the long run than trying to squeeze more juice out of a 100. Torque is what moves those extra couple slices of pizza down the trail. Air cleaner style and pipe choice/ fabrication will be part of the extra fun in putting together a good rider.

Also, if you are not interested in thrashing the bike around an MX track, you could consider adding a tooth or two to the rear sprocket or reducing a tooth on the primary drive sprocket. Your motor as is won't love you, but short of replacing the engine, you can put a bit more torque to the dirt with a gearing change and at little expense to boot.

I've got a 75 dirt squirt 01, when I got it it had a 125 on it but apparently out of factory it came with a 100cc motor. I've put a super rat motor on it and it works fine. Your best bet would to just find another engine
