Carb adjustment
Just got a 75 Road Toad and when I go over 3/4 throttle she likes to cut out and stutter a little. I don't what to mess with the adjustments without knowing what they are. And I'm open to any other ideas. This is my first Hodaka. Also the lights dont work is the only fuse the one under the seat?
Re: Carb adjustment
Yes the fuse under the seat is the only one, and should be 5 amp.
Regarding the headlight....
1. Are the filements solid (not broken) on the lamp?
2. Check your green wire by the battery box. I had mine get pinched there & it flattened the wire and broke the connection.
3. Make sure the wires for Hi & Low Beam at the switch are not damaged anywhere.
4. Check the blue ground wire for the headlight inside the bucket.
It could be other things, but these are what I would check first.
And I’ll let someone else discuss the cutting out issues with you! Victor

Re: Carb adjustment
j,
If you KNOW all of the following things are in good order . . .
- fresh spark plug
- good spark plug cap
- ignition system in good order
- ignition timing properly set
- good, fresh fuel
- oil filter element clean and properly oiled (not too much oil)
- no excessive carbon build up (or other obstruction) in the exhaust system
- etc
. . . then (and only then) is it time to start messing about with carb specs.
If all of the above is in good order, then the main jet is your target item since it is the primary fuel metering item at 3/4 throttle and higher. Change only one thing at time . . . and only one step at a time. What main jet is in there now?

Re: Carb adjustment
Ok guys thanks. I'm going to start on the list one thing at a time. I appreciate you guys getting back to me and starting a list for me to work on. Me and my boy will start on it. Should be a fun little bike when she running good.
