This will be of interest to anyone who rode the Bad Rock Trail Ride at Hodaka Days three weeks ago. Nearing the end of the ride, you entered Weston on the slight downhill road going from right to left.
Today there was a fire in standing wheat all along the east edge of town. No one was hurt and no structures lost, some fences burned and no doubt some shrubs took a hit and about 75 acres of wheat went up in flames. Several local town fire departments and rural fire districts responded. It was pretty scary for while, but was controlled in about 2 hours. A 101 yr old resident was moved from her home on the edge of town to City Hall for a while. Whew - things are OK now.

Wow
You have to feel sorry for the farmer. Thats 75 acres of prime Weston wheat he wont get a penny out of unless he has some crop insurance. I am sorry because its a bit off the Hodaka topic but would be interesting to know what yield per acre and when they will start harvesting there.
