trials swing arm modifications

Post by cuzncletus »

As I finalize the assembly on my Wombat to Trials bike resurrection, is there any value in putting another 1.5 or so inches in the swing arm? The frame is basically a stock 73 Wombat with a few modifications but none to the steering head. I can't see it taking me over a few minutes to do so effort isn't a consideration. Will this appreciably decrease the trail in my forks?

I have not or would not add any thing to the swing arm on a Wombat frame. the wombat frame is long enough for trials, you will need to be able to lift the front wheel by hitting the power. the wombat frame to me was the best frame to build a trials bike from. to make the bike handle like a trials bike the steering head needs to be changed 24 degree. I can tell you to change the rake right will take more than a few minutes. it will change the trail but it wii still work for trial but not so good for high speed. it can be off set by using a set of leading axle front forks (MR 175 forks).
