I picked up three model 94 Wombats. One is mostly complete and original in fairly nice condition, second one missing all the lights and electrical stuff except what it needs to run ant the third one is a basket case that has an engine with a fresh top end but is missing a lot of other stuff.
I do not know a whole lot about these but it appears to me that the head on the one and the head and cylinder on the other are not original. Also one looks like it might have a reed valve setup.
Here are photos of the engines. Does anyone have any information on this stuff?

Holy Cow, we sure do. Get yourself a good manual and start reading past posts on these. Get your engine numbers and look them up, start with that, least you will have the cases figured out. Come to Hodaka Days next month and we can set you up with all the info you need. You can add your own flair or go with stock. Have fun. I am doing 2 Wombats myself.
The top one looks like it has an Enduro/cross kit installed. That kit was a new head, cylinder, piston, reed valve intake and carb. It was basically the same top end from a Combat Wombat, but with reed valve added. A very desirable hop up kit.
The second one looks like a Combat Wombat head has been added to a standard Wombat cylinder. Should cool better, as long as it doesn't have excessive compression pressure. It also has a different carb (a spigot mount type) mounted.
Thanks guys. I have ordered the manual from Paul. I have looked up the frame and engine numbers and everything looks to be correct as far as that goes. The top motor is on the bike that looks like it had been modified for trials, foot pegs moved back, very large rear sprocket and a lot of stuff stripped off. It starts and runs great. The bottom motor is on the mostly complete bike. I got it to fire a little but the carburetor was leaking out the overflow so I’m in the process of cleaning the carburetor and gas tank. I’ll give it another try tonight.
I bought these bikes from an old guy (84) who was a Hodaka dealer in Seattle back in the day. I bought everything he had left. Wasn’t all that much besides the bikes, some miscellaneous parts, some stickers and a little bit of literature. Oh, a 1974 Yamaha 250 trials in excellent condition. He does have an old Greeves that he raced back in the 60’s but he did not want to sell that.
I do hope to make it to Hodaka Days. It’s only about a four hour drive for me. I’m pretty sure I’ll have one bike going good by then.

What a cool story on your purchase. I have noticed I meet the neatest characters in my Hodaka parts and bike searches. Just a few weeks ago I chased down an Ace 100 B+ on Craigs list. When I pulled up to the house, he had a rare Chevy Vega wagon, cherry, in the drive way and a Covair under a cover. Humm I thought. I went to the door and his wife told me he would be right out so I went back and waited by my car. Soon his wife motioned me through the side gate and as I entered I was struck by a car on a lift, so high you can walk under it, a 68 or 69 Camaro, all cherry and clean as #@@@. Modified with all the goodies. The rusty Ace was leaning against the fence. Soon Steve came out and we started chatting. The motor was out of the Ace, so I asked Steve if he had the motor. Sure do, he said and lifted up the garage door in the back yard that held more "toys", peaking out from under moving blankets. Another car was on a lift in the garage, a 70's Chev Nova or Chevelle I think it was, again all cherry and gorgeous. He proceeded to give me a quick rundown of what was under the covers, a few Yamahas from the 70", 2 stroke, two cylinder RD's, numerous Honda 50's, the last year Honda CR500R two stroke, every type of Schwinn Sting Ray(Pea Picker, Orange Crate, ect with the original bike shop receipts hanging off the handlebars. Then came the Holy Grail, the Bonanza minibike with the Hodaka Motor. Fully restored with the white fiberglass tank and the Chrome Expansion Chamber. I started getting lightheaded and stood there starring at it for ever. Well anyway, you get the picture, so now when I go to answer ads, I looking forward to the experience and the stories I will hear. Enjoy the adventure!
