Fuji 100cc

Post by 72chaparral »

Hello I'm new on here I'm not sure if any hodaka bikes had a Fuji 100cc f500k but I can't find info on them so I figured if give this a shot. I've been tearing a Fuji f500k down for my chaparral and when I removed the transmission gears there were 16 holes for ball bearings and only 12 came out in not sure if it was built this way or there are bearings missing the case had never been split before and it ran and shifted great any fuji 100cc info welcome just trying to figure out if it is supposed to be this way before I find 4 more bearings

Take a look at the counter shaft ball video on this forum. Posted just a few days ago.

I would say missing 25 percent of the balls is bad.

I would think it had to have been taken apart?? it would need all the shift balls. I have the manuals, as I was the chaparral dealer also. -------------- Clarence

Ill have to double check and make sure I didn't just drop them on my bench I do know that it wasn't apart and if you do need all 16 then they must be somewhere because it ran and shifted great now would someone happen to have a picture of the shaft connected to the shifter with all of the gears in order because I'm pretty sure they are all in order but I would still like to double check

Isn't it possible to run and shift with only 3 balls per gear? Not recommended, of course.

I don't think it would last very long with 3 balls per gear - side loads would pretzel the control shaft in pretty short order ( I think. I've never tested the concept . . . and don't plan to. 8-) ) The ball receiver bore would also take a beating (I think).

I have to place my bet on 4 balls hiding from you somewhere. It seems like if it operated so well, it must have had all the countershaft balls.

Wait a second. Weren't the Fuji 100 cc engines 5 speeds? 5 speeds = 20 countershaft balls 4 speed = 16 countershaft balls
