There were a few companies that made them as after market, some people liked them and some not. They are pretty cool now as they are different.

Rylan, those are called Earles forks AKA leading link or linkage forks. They were a common after market upgrade designed to better absorb bumps and were often lighter that the OEM front end they replaced. Van Tech is probably the most popular brand. Depending on exactly what you have there, they may be worth more that what you paid for the bike. Hopefully one of the guys with more knowledge can weigh in and tell you what you have. Cool score!

I can't verify that the forks are Van Tech, look to be close if not.

Rylan, these look to be Van Tech and are the same ones I used on my Super Rat about 1970. We raced two of these bikes out of Good's Cycle Shop that were very competitive. A good set-up!

I saw that very bike on CL in Crecent City, CA. About 4 hrs from me, here in NorCal. $400 seems like a decent price... if you live closer than I do to it.

Rylan is on the east coast, but you Hodie people in the PNW have a good deal there if you need a project. I'd pick it up if it's still there when I come out for HD.

Probably not, Athena Oregon is the original home of Hodaka Motorcycles. But you can never say never.

We did have it at Ohio one year (2006 I believe, at Vintage Motorcycle Days), but that was the only time it has been out of Oregon.

Had seen & text about the crescent city bike and was in area next day. It was sold while driving to Medford. Ad not taken down immediately after sale.
