Re: Super Rat motor onto Dirt Squirt? Part 2
I cant find this switch on strictlyhodaka.com or hodakaparts .com. is there a different option or does anyone know where I can buy a new one ?

The one you have is kinda rare and can be costly as they also fit the vintage Honda Elsinore's. Can this one be salvaged? Might want to attempt a repair.
Any type of momentary kill button or toggle type switch for an ATV or generic dirt bike will work. They come in 1 wire and 2 wire. Either will work. The one wire type hooks right to the hot wire coming from the mag to the coil and just grounds the current when you push the button down. Some types are spring loaded and only short the current while you are holding it down, so its called momentary. It has to be mounted directly to something on the bike that is grounded, like the handlebars. The 2 wire type has you hook 1 wire to the hot lead to the coil and the second wire to a ground like the engine or frame. The 2 wire type can be mounted to plastic since it has its own ground. It can be switched to stay grounded until you switch it back. That is the type in your photo.
Keep working on it, you sound like your making progress.

Re: Re: Super Rat motor onto Dirt Squirt? Part 2
Correct. All the kill switch does is short circuit the hot wire from the magneto to ground. I prefer the momentary switches which you have to hold until the engine has completely stopped turning. I've paid a heavy price for accidentally bumping the "on/off" style switch and killing the bike (once in the middle of a bar-banging moto) so now I only use the intermittent "hold to kill" switches on my race bikes.
