One of the old questions is: "If you don't have enough time to do it right the first time, when will you have the time to do it a second time?" (Um, please don't ask any of us how we know about that principle.)

Let's see, appropriate recommendations might be:
1) Take an aspirin and call me in the morning.
2) Scrape, scrub and clean till the gunk is gone - then post another photo
3) Remember that if it was easy, EVERYONE would be doing it.
4) Someday you'll get to ride it!
5) We are pullin' for ya

Hey, at least you got it apart, some don't come apart and then you're looking at sourcing a complete new wheel. I'd give it a good cleaning and see what's under all that crud.

Wouldn't hurt to head for the car wash and use the high pressure hot water/soap setting. You may have to consider a more aggressive media blast to really get the corrosion off. But let's see how it looks after the wash.

After it's clean you'll have to check that the drum surface is still round, or you may have to get it turned to make it round again.
