How about flat slide carbs? Are they much better than a round slide?
Thanks, Dave
Flat slide carbs
Re: Flat slide carbs
I think flat slides are "better" than round - they evolved later and are more advanced.
*But I don't know how it would get along with a Hodaka motor or have any tips on carb type or jetting - someone else might.
That said, I put a flat slide on a 250 Bultaco awhile back - MAJOR improvement over the stock Amal carb (which admittedly, was probably just wore out in spots). The Bul got along great with the flat slide.
Not sure what your goals are, but remember that flat slides are not legal in AHRMA.

Re: Flat slide carbs
Dave , Stock for stock a flat slide out performs a round slide VM carb simply because the bottom of the slide is wat les turbulant , (BUT) !!! When a UFO is added to the bottom of a Round slide carb the table turns and now the VM out performs a flat slide carb since the edy in the slide bore of the round slide is less turbulant and less restrictive than that of the flat slide carb. Then add venturi dividers and you really have a great carb. They can be fabricated in a flat slide carb also but still the round works better .
